DESENVOLVIMENTO, MEGAEMPREENDIMENTOS E TERRITÓRIO

Abstract

This paper develops before the main objective of analyzing, in a synthetic way, some of the significant recent phenomenal of the Fluminense regional economy and its consequences, from a geographical / space perspective, bringing the geographical territory concept (in its multidimensionality and multiscalarity) to the point of discussion - signaling to the main factors that have made this state moving out from a condition of two decades of economic stagnation (1980-1990) to a new phase of ventures multiplier substantial investment and development conception which has served as basis for hegemonic agents responsible for implementing such projects. In this connection, the "mega" prefix became an imperative ideological indispensable to the discourse of the major political agents in the state of Rio de Janeiro in this new economic fortuity. Thus, the Mega industrial, infrastructure and real-estate projects (especially circulation ones, like ports and as large highway projects) driven by the flagship Mega sporting events, are significantly reordering redefining the territorial logics, productive and environmental of metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, calling attention to the new challenges of management policy of Fluminense territory. In this sense, this paper analyzes the current Rio de ro’s modernizing fronts, signaling the developmental character of these mega-enterprises in a new political and economic developments beyond their and contradictions that constantly materialize in the territory.
