ESPAÇO, CINEMA, IMAGEM E REPRESENTAÇÃO

Abstract

This paper mainly aims to bring to light some reflections on an approach between Geography, specially the school Geography, and cinema, which, though presented with a different language compared to Geography, also allows us to form a view of the world: since its first exhibitions on which scenes of the city’s daily life were pictured, until more than one century later, through the digital fiction cinema. In order to do that, we analyze cinematographic image as a language and representation and its possible interactions as content and motivators of debate within school Geography. We verify, in our analysis, the bridge between the so-called Geography of the Cinema and Geog-raphy in the Cinema – as suggested by Hopkins (1994) – in an arena of mediations between space and image, observer and observed, representation and real.
