Abstract

Thinking about space in a multidimensional way provides us the essential basis for a Geography that integrates more and more its two traditional fields – Human Geography and Physical Geography –, which are many times taken as antagonistic to each other. In this process, it is important to keep ourselves away of the classical fragmentation of real in precise and tight categories, like space and time and society and nature. We believe that the concept of technic may substantially help in this kind of thought, because although the technic is undeniably a product of society, it is able to somehow mediate those aspects of reality. However, other questions appear as limits for the current possibilities towards this effective integration, such as the question of the method: in the current mo-ment of science, we cannot think that using a single meth-od to analyse both social and natural dynamics is the best way to treat them critically and coherently.
