This perspective becomes even more preoccupying when we observe the Brazilian metropolises, as Rio de Janeiro , where, daily, jump to the eyes of all the population the news and facts directly related to the phenomenon of the violence. Young and adults in situation of freedom privation are living deeply intense and intricate relations of status and power, disclosing winding social political and pointing different social spaces realities, in the most diverse scales, hidden for the walls of the total institutions. Particularly the carioca space presents a landscape of violence represented for the power of the factions narcotics dealers, witch influence the organization of the total institutions and are legitimated by the State through the process of producing factions. The diverse space appropriations result in different analytical matrices, where the space of the confinement can be noticed sometimes as a territory and sometimes as place, not being, a priori, well defined. These unlike spatial appropriation only can be noticed by trans-scalar way of research.
