Abstract

The Environmental Health Epidemiological Surveillance Booklet for the state of São Paulo addresses the importance of epidemiological surveillance in identifying and monitoring problems related to public health arising from environmental factors. The document highlights the need for integration between the areas of health and the environment to prevent and control diseases resulting from exposure to harmful environmental agents, in addition to highlighting the importance of health education and the promotion of preventive measures to reduce health risks of the population. Finally, strategies and guidelines are highlighted to strengthen epidemiological surveillance in environmental health and promote the health and well-being of the population
