Minute of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and the Dandara de Palmares agroecological fair: a weaving experience in Occupational Health involving family farming, community practice, and the sharing of ancestral flavors and knowledge.

Abstract

Introduction: Fiocruz has several intra- and inter-institutional projects, including an articulation with the field of worker health through the Fiocruz Saudável Project, which encourages worker protagonism in the production of strategies for health promotion and reducing the impact generated by the institution's activities. Objective: The project aims to integrate actions of care, health promotion, and appreciation of traditional knowledge through sustainable educational and food practices, carried out within the institutional space of Fiocruz Pernambuco. Methods:. The Dandara Palmares Agroecological Fair featured the participation of the two collectives and agroecological associations, which prepared the entire healthy breakfast for us to serve the whole community. In addition to sharing popular knowledge through the participating associations, such as CESAM and Nova Visão. Results: Throughout 2023 and 2024, 18 meetings were held, with the participation of approximately 350 workers and more than 20 invited speakers. Among the topics covered, the following stood out: worker's health, ethics in research, neglected diseases, diversity and inclusion, biosecurity, integrative practices, and food security. Conclusion: The Minuto SUS and Dandara de Palmares agroecological fair have been strengthening as a transformative axis of these more sustainable educational practices that, together with Fiocruz, have been transforming traditional and local knowledge, helping to guarantee the human right to adequate food and strengthening solidarity production networks.
