Abstract

Tutorial groups may be considered one of the best ways to construct the academic knowledge. The Tutorial Education Program (PET), since 1995, stands out at Department of Geography in Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, as a group (PETGEOPUC-Rio) in which teaching, research and extensity intertwine following the directions defined by Culture and Education Ministry (MEC). The group should not only be aware of the necessary interrelationships between these three sectors of university practices, but should strive to incorporate them into a functional learning program based on geographic concepts.
